Environmental Sustainability
At Polaron Connect, environmental sustainability is at the heart of how we work. As a social enterprise, we believe positive social change and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we actively reduce our environmental footprint across every part of our operations.
Digital-first, low-impact delivery
We adopt a digital-first approach that reduces waste and emissions. Most of our communications, training, and client deliverables are delivered electronically. We use cloud-based systems, sustainable printing practices, and eco-friendly materials to minimise environmental impact.
Remote and energy-efficient work
Our flexible, remote-first model reduces commuting and office energy use. Where possible, we run meetings, workshops and consultations online. For physical office spaces, we use energy-efficient lighting and power-saving systems, while encouraging staff to use public transport for essential travel.
Ethical and sustainable supply chain
We prioritise suppliers who share our values. Preference is given to businesses that are carbon-neutral, use low-emission methods, or demonstrate strong environmental initiatives. We also partner with SMEs, First Nations and CALD-owned businesses who commit to sustainable practices, creating impact across both climate and community.
Innovation to reduce impact
Technology plays a key role in reducing our footprint. We use AI-powered workflows, translation memory and cloud services that cut duplication and save energy. We also prioritise recycled and eco-friendly products, buying in bulk to reduce packaging waste.
Waste reduction and recycling
Polaron offices are mostly paperless. We provide dedicated recycling stations for e-waste, paper, plastics and soft plastics, while minimising single-use plastics and unnecessary promotional items. Our team is trained in responsible waste practices and regularly tracks progress towards waste reduction goals.
Accountability and certification
Our environmental commitments are backed by recognised standards. We are certified under ISO 9001:2015 and follow ISO 26000:2010 (Social Responsibility). We are also verified by the Good Market, an international platform for enterprises that put people and planet first.
Measuring our impact
We conduct quarterly audits of paper usage, travel-related emissions, and supply chain impact. These audits help us continuously improve and report transparently to our clients and stakeholders.
In practice: FECCA & AHRC Anti-Racism Project
For this national campaign, we delivered all resources digitally and ran co-design consultations online. This reduced travel and material use, while ensuring inclusive engagement across communities.
